Well with the season now over by about 3 weeks we have had time to take stock.
This our third season in the top flight and we have our first trophy .
The Gilchrist Trophy was won the hard way against Hollinwood at Ewens Field in early May . I think most onlookers would not have begrudge us a trophy this term .We know that it could have been better with a bit more consistency perhaps we could have took the title but we are continuing our upward curve and with the possibility of North West Counties football in the next few years this club is heading in the right direction.
With our presentation night just around the corner it would be remiss of us to dish out plaudits to certain players as the awards next Friday will do our talking.
We would like to go on record and thank Gordy Hamilton Dave Franks and all the regular players of the reserve team who have supported the 1st eleven when asked without too much whingeing!! . It is vitally important to have a squad mentality and i think we are going on the right road to accomplishing our goals.
Anyway enough waffle rollon pre season on the 6th July enjoy the break boys you will need it.
Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
