Walshaw travelled to early pacesetters Gregorians on Saturday with a side ravaged by injuries and unavailability leaving a side without 6 regulars. Matters were made worse in the warm up when Brad Franks pulled out with a groin injury.
Walshaw gave a debut to Kelly Fortune signed from Radcliffe Borough and also blooded youth team player Chris Taylor in a defensive 4-5-1 formation . The early stages were nip and tuck and if anything the visitors were have more territorial play without really threatening the home goal .Lee Chapman drove the visitors on with his usual all action performance .
With goalmouth action at a premium it looked like the sides would go in at half time deadlocked but just before the break the home side broke and as the ball was played into the middle the un marked forward beat Marsh with a deflected shot.
The second period belonged to the home side with the visitors visibly tiring they added a second and in the end ran out worthy winners of a poor match.
The reserves ran riot against Rochdale Sacred Heart Matt Barnes scored 7 in a 10-1 rout .
This week Walshaw take a b reak from league action when they begin they LFA shield campaign at home to Norcross and Warbreck Ko 2PM at Redvales
